A stalled cold front but changes on the way.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 3/18: The cold front associated with this next wave has stalled over eastern Utah and is allowing the stream of moisture to lift to our west early. This will change through the morning as we see the cold moving east and flattening that flow across our area. Look for some gusting winds with this change and snow showers before noon up high turning to consistent snow through the afternoon. This pattern steals some of the moisture and sets up squally bands but we are still in line for the 3-6 we were looking for. Expect sloppy travel be this afternoon and plan accordingly.
Temperatures: Overnight lows were colder than expected as skies stayed clearer with Crested Butte reporting 14 and 16 for Gunni. Highs will climb early to 36 for CB and 42 for Gunni before dropping through the afternoon. Lows tonight will hold to the high teens.
Outlook: The end of this wave will offer remnants on the higher terrain through the morning but then we clear with a dirty high pressure setting up to start the week. Expect partly to mostly sunny skies until Wednesday when we start to see some changes but models still show big differences so stay tuned.
