A last day of high pressure and then a taste of the monsoon.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 8/20: We are headed for a change in the western weather pattern and today will be our day of transition but also the last day of the warmer sunny conditions. Moisture looping in from the west will stay to the north along the CO/WY boarder leaving us with a last day of high pressure. Look for sunny skies early with some high clouds into the afternoon. Smoke remains a reality but hopefully high winds this afternoon will help.
Temperatures: We’ve seen the coldest morning yet with Crested Butte hitting 31 and 38 for Gunnison. High will climb with the sunshine for a huge temperature shift and reach 76 for CB and 80 for Gunni by the afternoon. Lows tonight will be warmer with clouds likely.
Outlook: The high pressure ridge slides east early Tuesday and we see the subtropical plume and a monsoonal pattern develop. Actual moisture will move in later Tuesday afternoon but high clouds will be on us early. Look for potentially wetting rains Tuesday evening and we could see a full rainy day Wednesday depending on how this sets up. There are still variables at play so expect changes but plan on a wet middle to the week.
