The plume returns.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 7/20: High pressure is sliding off to the east as expected with the brunt of the southern plume getting more focused on the southwest. That said it remains unorganized as the pattern evolves but precipitable water levels are climbing and regional radar is showing showers already developing over the San Juans and Eastern Utah. Temperatures will be hot and thunder cells will develop so get out early and prepare for an active afternoon.
Temperatures: Lows were warmer at 44 for Crested Butte and 52 for Gunni with the cloud cover. Highs will cool a couple degrees but still hit 86 for Gunni and 80 for CB. Lows tonight will be about the same with similar conditions.
Outlook: Not surprisingly this year’s version of the monsoon has come in fits and starts and that continues this weekend. We are seeing a well saturated atmosphere with precipitable water levels capable of strong slow moving cells with wetting rains but these will knuckleball around the area. Prepare for cells building daily and potentially continuing overnight through Monday but these remain hit or miss. Take advantage of any windows of sunshine but expect fast changes.
