Sunny to start but expect active conditions building.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 7/23: We are continuing to see moisture to the south recirculating back up into our area. Warmer temperatures to the south and west have kept storms firing overnight with the debris finding our area early. Look for a little more sun in the mix than yesterday to start but this will also help fire stronger cells by early afternoon. Plan on the period between 3-6 being the most active but expect scattered thundershowers earlier and plan adventures with escapabiulity in mind.
Temperatures: Lows were colder this morning hitting 43 for Crested Butte and 47 for Gunnison. Highs will look a lot like yesterday with Gunni at 77 and 72 for CB. Look for lows holding to the 40’s again tonight.
Outlook: We are seeing the same movements in the high pressure ridge to the south letting in enough moisture to keep convective activity firing through the afternoons while the northern jet keeps it circulating in the south. This will mean partly sunny conditions early for most days giving way to scattered slower moving thunder cells through the afternoons. Plan for an early start if you’re headed up high and be prepared.
