Sunnier longer as the pieces fall into place.

TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 1/19: Everything in the western weather pattern is progressing about as expected but models have slowed the start of the snow so look for mostly sunny skies to hold longer today. We will see some high clouds in the mix but the snow showers and thicker ceiling should hold off until after dark. Temperatures will pop with a southern surge for the warmest day of the week so be prepared to lose some layers as the day progresses.

Temperatures: Overnight lows were warmer with the lowest report in CB hitting -3 while Gunnison held to 7. Highs will climb as the milder southern flow builds with CB reaching 37 and 40 for Gunni. Lows tonight will be moderated by the thicker cloud cover with all elevations up to around 10 degrees.

Outlook: Snow showers will start overnight and gradually build through Saturday but the cold front out of the northwest is forecast to stall over Utah. The best snow production will come where the warm from the south meets the cold from the north but timing is going to be hard to predict. We will likely see squally surges through Saturday evening as temperatures drop and hopefully some strong bands into Sunday morning. I’m still hoping for 4-8 with a possible surprise but there are a lot of variables in play so do that snow dance.
