9/24: Light winds and hazy blue skies.
Crested Butte Weather and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update-For Today- 9/24: This wave that passed to our north through the last 24 hours will brush the divide and higher terrain with it’s southern most end potentially offering a little cloud cover over those areas this morning. That’s it for variables in the flow and we are looking at another day of sunny skies and haze with winds building into the afternoon.
Temperatures: Overnight lows have stayed cold under the clear skies at 29 for Crested Butte and 33 for Gunnison. Highs will climb to 74 for Gunni and 70 for CB by the afternoon. Lows tonight will look the same or slightly cooler.
Outlook: We are seeing a fast moving northern jet stream that is about to run into a huge trough over the eastern US and the result will slow the western flow. Look for more warm dry conditions under a zonal west to east flow through Saturday but then the fronts meet and the northern flow will drop south. Changes should be limited to just some more cloud cover Sunday but this is our one variable in the forecast. Hot and dry remains the trend with smoke remaining in the picture into next week.
