4/2: Building winds and a weathery mix.
Crested Butte Weather and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update-For Today- 4/2: As expected we are sitting right on the southern end of this trough slowly moving across Utah. The associated cold front will slowly move across our area as the base of the trough tracks along the divide. A surge of milder air ahead of this kept us warm overnight but look for gusting winds, dropping temperatures and snow showers building into this evening. Our storms will be more convective with a rain snow mix for the valleys ahead of the colder air later today.
Temperatures: Overnight lows were warm holding to 32 for CB while Gunni reported hitting 27 but that’s suspect. Highs will reach 46 for Gunni and 40 for CB before they drop later today. Lows tonight will reach the mid teens with the colder air.
Outlook: This trough moves through overnight leaving colder air in its wake but skies will be clearing with a mostly sunny start to Friday. A little moisture from the tail end of this trough will move along the divide Friday night offering snow showers to the north that will linger into Saturday morning on the divide. Skies clear into the afternoon and then it’s all dry from there.
