7/31: Sun early but it’s coming.
Crested Butte Weather and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- Today- 7/31: We are seeing a slight reprieve as this pattern sets up with the high from the north pushing heavy moisture back in from the northeast. This puts the divide between us and the heaviest moisture and will give us a later start to the wetter weather. That said, it’s coming so get out early and then be prepared for heavy slow moving rainers building through noon. Expect broad coverage with rain lasting into tonight. More sun early will mean an angrier afternoon with some cells capable of small hail and heavy downpours.
Temperatures: Lows were mild at 48 for CB and 53 for Gunni. Highs will be cooler holding to 69 for CB and 77 for Gunni. Lows tonight stay warm straddling 50.
Outlook: Moisture continues to build from the southwest and recycle from the northeast teeing up wetter conditions into Sunday. Expect heavier cloud cover earlier and slow moving thundershowers. We reach peak moisture into early Monday and then a slight pattern shift will allow drier air to slowly work in with thundershowers tapering through the rest of the week.
