1/15: A sunny start but cloudy finish.
Crested Butte Weather and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update-For Today- 1/15: We are into the clear gap between waves with a sunny morning expected to give way to building high clouds into the afternoon. This round dives in from the north and will be a glancing blow at best offering an inch or two through Saturday morning. Expect gusting winds into this afternoon and have layers.
Temperatures: Overnight lows dropped to -3 for Crested Butte and 1 for Gunnison. Highs be in the mid to high 20s valley wide and warmer up high. Lows tonight will be warmer in the single digits with clouds and snow.
Outlook: We are seeing this cut off low in the pacific drop to the south ahead of this approaching flow which will flatten the trajectory and improve our chances of better moisture. A weak system will favor the north early Saturday with a gap into Sunday before the next round moves in Sunday night. This will be the beginning of a more impressive string of days. Significant details need to be worked out but models took a much more optimistic turn today with what could be our best week of the winter on the way if the pieces fall into place. Do your snow dance.
