10/23: A mild start blowing up this afternoon.
Crested Butte Weather and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update-For Today- 10/23: The glancing blow we were expecting from this northern trough grazing the area has taken a turn with the base of the trough dropping lower than expected. Look for high clouds mixing with sun early filling in after noon with high gusting winds blowing the system over the divide by late afternoon. Strong dynamics will be hobbled by the fast moving system but strong bands will make for some surprises and colder air will mean snow to the valley floors. A windy inch could turn into more tonight and expect sloppy travel especially on Monarch into tomorrow morning.
Temperatures: A surge of southern air kept lows mild at 21 for Crested Butte and 17 for Gunnison. Highs will reach 44 for CB and 51 for Gunni early but look for a change into the afternoon. Lows will drop to the mid to low teens tonight.
Outlook: The tail of this wave will be gone through Thursday morning with some lingering remnants but then we are in a clear dry trend into the weekend. A steady rebound in temperatures will make for beautiful conditions so make some plans.
