9/30: A colder fall blend brewing.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- Today-9/30: The big cut off low has continued to move east and has drawn in the moisture from the south. Regional radar shows the concentrated moisture lifting through to our southwest but as this drops in our direction scattered thundershowers early will turn to more consistent rains. High will be 5+ degrees cooler today and colder temperatures and moisture will offer snow up high tonight. A few flakes may reach the valley floors to the north but won’t stick below 11,000ft.
Temperatures: Overnight lows dropped to 35 for Gunnison and 33 for Crested Butte. Highs will cool to 61 for CB and 67 for Gunni. Lows tonight will straddle the freezing mark depending on elevation.
Outlook: This rotating low stalls and slowly moves from the northwest through to the northeast through the weekend with the colder air and moisture dropping across our area. The result will be just spotty sun in a wetter pattern with windy cells through the days and a rain snow mix overnight. This is a hard to predict mix at best with lots of interacting components so be prepared for a cooler fall blend with potentially sloppy conditions up high.
