2/3: A super cold and sunny start.
Crested Butte Weather and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- Today- 2/3: We are into the col of this latest trough with temperatures plummeting overnight under the clear skies with the fresh snow. We will see plenty of sunshine today but highs will struggle to break out of the low teens and any winds will produce dangerous wind chill values you will want to be prepared for and keep an eye on any exposed skin.
Temperatures: The lowest report we saw from Crested Butte this morning was -28 with Gunnison holding to -9. Highs will be in the low teens. Lows tonight will look similar but likely a little colder for Gunnison.
Outlook: The valley inversions will be reforming with these cold clear conditions offering plenty of sun but temperatures will be our variable with continued cold clear nights. Look for daytime highs slowly breaking clear of the teens as the weekend progresses but it will remain cold so have layers for early starts and respect the frost bite potential. Highs on the ridges and at the resort will be 5+ degrees warmer so get higher for the milder conditions.
